Finale has evolved into the world’s most-used music notation program by offering powerful, flexible tools that serve the needs of novice and veteran composers as well as those of music teachers designing programs for secondary and advanced curricula.

Finale: An Easy Guide to Music Notation provides a comprehensive, step-by-step exploration of all of Finale’s capabilities and applications, including its uses in the classroom. Written by music educator Thomas E. Rudolph and producer and composer Vincent A. Leonard, Jr., the book comes complete with a CD-ROM containing tutorials for each of the hundreds of hands-on exercises in the book. Both Macintosh and Windows-compatible, the CD-ROM also offers professional templates, articulations and dynamics libraries, and General MIDI instrument libraries.

Noted composer and flutist Leslie Burrs has called Finale: An Easy Guide to Music Notation “an exceptional tool for both those familiar with Finale and those just beginning to explore all it has to offer.”

“A much-needed and welcome manual!” declares Joe Liles, Music Publication Editor, SPEBSQSA, (Barbershop Harmony Society). “The organization of the chapters, tips, cross-references, and clarity of explanations make this a must for any Finale user.”

Author Thomas Rudolph is a founding director of the Technology Institute for Music Educators, and serves as an adjunct professor of music at the University of the Arts in Wyncote, Pennsylvania and musical director for the Haverford School District in the state. His co-author, Vincent Leonard, has premiered his original compositions worldwide, and is widely known as a copyist and arranger. He has worked with such artists as Peter Nero, The Philly Pops Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, and Chuck Mangione.
